Sharon Barnes, 54, of Wideman, was injured Aug. 21 in a 7:35 a.m. car accident on Highway 9 about 2.6 miles north of the intersection of Highways 56 and 9, north of Brockwell. Barnes was traveling north on Highway 9. While negotiating a curve, she lost control of her vehicle and ran off the south bound lane coming to rest. She was transported to Calico Rock Medical Center.

Lloyd D. Hill, 74, and Donna C. Hill of Nixa, Mo., were in a car accident Aug. 22 at 12:20 p.m. Mrs. Hill was pronounced dead at the scene by the Izard County Coroner. Hill failed to yield at the intersection of State Highway 56 and Highway 9 in Brockwell. Hill drove directly into the path of Christopher P. Lamb, 31, of West Plains, Mo. Lamb was driving a freightliner and could not stop in time to avoid hitting Hill. Hill was transported by Air-Evac to Cox South in Springfield, Mo. The investigation is continuing.
