Plans set for busy 4th of July

Thursday, July 2, 2009
Things are reviving up for Thayer's Fourth of July celebrations.

The day's events begin at the Industrial Park with car show registration at 9 a.m. at the rodeo grounds. The registration fee is $20 for participants and admission is $5 for adults and is free for kids. Car show judging will begin at 11 a.m.

A lawn mower pulling contest is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Food concessions will be on site at the rodeo grounds

Rodeo grounds events will be held until 4 p.m.

After 4 p.m., it'll be time to move to the Thayer High School Football Field to get fired up for fireworks.

Food concessions and craft booths will be set up and watermelon will be given away at the field. Entertainment is also scheduled, which will include the Dan Ward Band, inflatable ride and a K95 Summer Giveaway of a $6,000 ATV and trailer.

Fireworks will begin around dusk.

There is no admission charge at the football field, but volunteers will be at the gates accepting donations for next year's fireworks. All events, treats, fireworks and giveaways at the Fourth of July celebration are all possible through donations, and any donation for parking will be used for next year's celebrations.
