Thayer Firefighters Fill the Boot Fundraiser for Muscular Dystrophy Association

The Thayer Fire Department along with Thayer Rural Fire Department conducted their annual Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Fill the Boot fundraising campaign this past Saturday in Thayer. We are pleased to announce that through the generosity of those that contributed to this worthy cause, we raised so far, $2530 this year. There are still additional monies that are in the process so this total will go up. We thank all those that donated to this cause, and a thanks also for those that dropped water and drinks off to those collecting money. All of this was greatly appreciated. A special thanks to the firefighters for taking time from their families and busy schedules. There are two boots out in the area, one is at the Thayer Police Station and the other is at Thayer City Hall. These boots are there for those who wish to make a contribution and was unable to be here for the collection on Saturday. Any amount no matter how small is appreciated.

More great toe-tappin’ rhythms will fill the streets of Hardy again

It seems Main Street Hardy is a magnet for the browsers, the shoppers, the munchers and sidewalk hoppers when rolling rhythms seem to carry folks along from one antique shop to a novelty candy shop. Let the melodies and beats of Dennis Horton, Chuck Young and their band Overtime put air under your step once again this Saturday, August 13, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The group will be gracing the beautiful gardens of Dr. Thompson’s Park nestled right in the middle of downtown Hardy. Don’t hesitate to bring along a dance partner as their tunes and cadences are destined to bring back a sweet memory or reveal a hidden spark you forgot you still had. The park offers shade and comforting peace to sit in respite as lilting lyrics may carry you away. Bring an ice cream cone or soda, or just your ears and your heart to enjoy a wonderful Saturday afternoon in Hardy.
