Members are invited to join in the fun of painting rocks which library volunteers will later hide in local parks for the kids to find and redeem for a free children’s book. All supplies furnished. The annual Arkansas Roots Music Festival is making a move this year. The event will be held on Saturday, April 1, at the Johnny Cash boyhood home, an Arkansas State University Heritage Site at Dyess. Live music begins at noon, ending at 5 p.m.
The Mark Twain National Forest (Forest) and Fort Leonard Wood share boundary lines and have a long history of working together. Continuing this cooperation, they plan to jointly conduct the Cannon Range prescribed burn, a 4,000-acre prescribed burn to increase forest health and reduce the risks of extreme wildfires to the Fort, the Forest, and neighboring communities. This project will be implemented sometime in the next week when weather conditions are right.
