DED ARPA small business grant will be accepted
If your business is still trying to recover from COVID-19, the ARPA Small Business Grant may be able to help. The Small Business Grant Program provides assistance to small businesses negatively impacted by COVID-19. The Missouri General Assembly has appropriated $10 million to the Department of Economic Development (DED) to provide assistance directly to small businesses through this grant. Of the total available funds, $2 million are reserved for minority or women-owned small businesses.

NARFE Chapter 695 to meet
The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Chapter 695 of West Plains will meet Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 12 noon at the Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant, 1449 Preacher Roe Blvd. EMT Farrell Graves will be the speaker. All active and retired federal employees and spouses are invited to attend.
Senator Karla Eslinger elected to majority caucus whip position in Missouri Senate
State Sen. Karla Eslinger, R-Wasola, has been elected by her colleagues to serve as majority whip, a key position in caucus leadership, during the 102nd General Assembly. As whip, Sen. Eslinger will verify support for pending legislation and ensure senators are present to vote.

Spooktacular held in Mammoth Spring
Ghouls and goblins lined the Main Street in Mammoth Spring to attend the annual Spooktacular held on Thursday, Nov. 3. Rescheduled due to weather conditions, the event featured games and trick or treating for attendees. Many showcased their costumes at the costume contest held at the event. With categories zero to five years old, six to 10 years old, 11 to 17 years old, adult category and group category. Participants in each category had the chance to win a plaque stating, “Congratulations on your great costume. It is our pleasure to present you with this certificate, use it to make all your friends and family jealous of what an amazing ghoul, goblin, princess or special character you are.” There was first, second or third place certificates in each category with 15 being handed out as well as a certificate for a free ice cream from Spring Dipper. The overall winner received $95 from KKountry95.

Mistletoe Magic Arts and Crafts Show held at THS
Mistletoe Magic Arts and Crafts Show was held the weekend of Nov. 4 and 5 at Thayer High School. The craft show held every year the first weekend of November hosts approximately 60 to 70 vendors. The popular event features a wide range of items available for purchase from baked goods, woodworking, porcelain, direct sales, wreaths, clothing, soaps, wax melts/candles and other miscellaneous items.

“All Aboard” the train to make tracks in historic preservation, education and patriotism
Daughters were invited by the Rachel Donelson Chapter of Springfield, Mo. to join them on Oct. 25 to listen to Missouri State Society DAR State Regent, Renee Pope Pace’s program, “For Whom the Whistle Blows.” Ms. Pace of Eldon, Missouri is well known as a passionate educator, and her administration’s theme and mission for Missouri Daughters is to get “All Aboard” the train to Make Tracks in Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism. Currently, Missouri has 104 NSDAR Chapters with 5,500 plus members. According to Ms. Pace, “members come from a variety of backgrounds and share the common bond of having proven lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolutionary War.”
