Thayer Fall Festival to be held

Thayer Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8 in downtown Thayer from 4 to 8:30 p.m. There will be food, crafts, games, live music and a pumpkin carving contest. Booth rental is $25 and booth rental with electricity is $30. Black Gold activities include annual contests

Several contests are held each year at the Annual Ozarks Black Gold Walnut Festival on the historic court square in Alton on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. Friday night's 5K Run/Walk kicks off the event with registration beginning at 5:30 p.m. The registration fee has been changed to $10 for all entries, regardless of age, but medals will be awarded in both student and adult categories. The race will start at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the race are donated each year to an Alton High School athletic team. This year's beneficiary is the boys’ basketball team.

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is conducting its annual search for a large Christmas tree for use on the governor's mansion lawn in Jefferson City. MDC is asking landowners, homeowners, businesses, and communities that may have possible candidate trees to contact the Department.

OB Nurse recognized with DAISY Award at Ozarks Healthcare

Ozarks Healthcare recently recognized Savannah Mc-Cune, registered nurse (RN) in Ozarks Healthcare’s Obstetrics (OB) Department with the DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award. Mc-Cune was awarded The DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses for the level of compassionate care she provided to a mother and her newborn during delivery. The DAISY Award is part of the DAISY Foundation's programs to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day.

Governor Parson proclaims September 1117 as Water and Wastewater Treatment Professionals Week in Missouri

Winter coat drive to help area seniors

Renee Janes E ditor rjanes@cherryroad.com Working to help provide for area seniors, Senior-Age centers in Howell and Oregon counties will host a winter clothes drive and will be accepting donations of new coats, new scarves and new gloves to help seniors in need in the upcoming colder months. The winter coat drive is helping to provide items so area seniors will not have to go without.
