Governor Parson signs executive order to accelerate drought response actions

In response to increasingly dry conditions and the growing threat of serious drought, especially across Missouri’s southern counties, Governor Mike Parson issued Executive Order 22-04 calling upon the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to activate the Drought Assessment Committee and the associated drought impact teams.

West Plains Folds of Honor Golf Tournament raises over $20,000 in educational scholarships for local families

The First Annual West Plains Folds of Honor Golf Tournament successfully raised more than $20,000 in educational scholarships to benefit the spouses and children of fallen or disabled military veterans. The event was held at the West Plains Country Club on June 24, 2022, with 28, three-person teams participating.

Hardy brings familiar beats to the streets with some additional twists

Come celebrate the end of July, surf the shops of Main Street and enjoy the sounds and the rhythmic street beats of Hardy. Chuck Young and Dennis Horton, our usual Thursday night toe-tapping swirl-the-floor accompaniment, are bringing it to the streets on Saturday, July 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. They will be bringing some friends along to complete their band called Overtime! The group will be playing at the gazebo in Dr. Thompson’s Park, so bring your partner and your dancing shoes. You might just feel like cutting a rug or skipping the lights fandango. No matter what your plans, these guys are sure to add some boost to your step!
