To help with the economic challenges many students are currently facing, officials at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) will offer a gas voucher program beginning this fall. The program is for all degree-seeking students who take at least six credit hours of seated classes and live more than 25 miles away from campus.
Missouri State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick July 20 announced that this week’s Unclaimed Property Auction earned $254,519 for account owners. This was the largest total in program history, breaking the prior record set in 2011 by more than $6,000. The auction was held in Independence at the Stoney Creek Inn on July 18 and 19.
Annual events were the topic of discussion at the Mammoth Spring Chamber of Commerce meeting held on Thursday, July 14 at Fred’s Fish House in Mammoth Spring. Chamber of Commerce President Trena Spears called the meeting to order and welcomed guests.

Dr. Scott Roush, provider at Ozarks Healthcare Family Care (previously, Ozarks Family Care) in West Plains, is now traveling on Fridays to see patients at Ozarks Healthcare in Alton. A native of Alton, Roush says he is excited to connect with his hometown and continue to provide compassionate care in an additional setting.

Mammoth Spring Police Department will host National Night Out on the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 7:30 p.m. In a statement on Facebook, the department stated “it is our hopes that this will be the first of many events to bring awareness to the importance of positive relationships between law enforcement and the community we serve.”
