The Arkansas State Police is investigating a Fulton County homicide that claimed the life of 57-year-old Kristy Marie Taylor, a Fulton County resident and local sheriff’s department employee. Taylor was found dead in the driveway of her home at 3012 Fawnwood Road southwest of Viola on Saturday, July 9 just before 6 p.m.
After an altercation at Mammoth Spring City Park, an area teen is being charged with aggravated assault. Jared Hurst, 18, allegedly took an AR-15 out of his truck, firing it twice during an argument involving other teens that occurred at the park.
A burn ban has been issued for Oregon and Howell counties in Missouri due to dry conditions and above-normal temperatures. The burn ban is effective until further notice.
A long-time Mammoth Spring State Park employee was honored during a special ceremony held on Wednesday, June 29 at the park pavilion. Reflecting on his career with Arkansas State Parks, retiring Mammoth Spring State Park Superintendent Dave Jackson stated looking back there are things that have been accomplished and to be proud of; however, there were also things that he wanted to accomplish but did not get done.
