Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Director Austin Booth applauded the passage of the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act on Tuesday by the U.S. House of Representatives. Booth compared HR 2773 as the modern-day equivalent of the Pittman-Robertson and Dingell-Johnson Acts. These two pieces of legislation have funded the conservation efforts that fueled the greatest comeback story for wildlife management in the history of the world, Booth said.

Turtles are on the move all over Arkansas, and many can be found alongside roads in rural and suburban areas thanks to a wet, relatively cool spring that created excellent foraging areas in ditches and grassy areas beside the hustle of daily traffic. Many turtles are finishing up their annual breeding and egg-laying cycles, which also puts them on the move.

Dr. Anthony Campbell, board-certified general surgeon, recently joined Ozarks Healthcare. Originally from St. Louis, Dr. Campbell previously practiced as a locum physician at Ozarks Healthcare. Dr. Campbell now enjoys officially calling the Ozarks Healthcare operating room “home.”

Ozarka College Licensed Practical Nursing students recently participated in an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) class conducted by Air Evac to obtain their ACLS Certification. The course was completed by 6 students who earned their certifications.

On June 13, Oregon County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from McPherson County Sheriff’s Office in South Dakota of a possible location of a wanted subject by their agency. A deputy with the Oregon County Sheriff’s Department and an officer with Thayer Police Department responded to a residence on Maple Street in Thayer and located Henry Terrell Berryhill, 43.
