Suspect in Koshkonong shooting to stand trial

On April 10, 2021 an unthinkable tragedy happened in an otherwise quiet community. The setting was the Snappy Mart in Koshkonong, Mo. located on Hwy. 63 around 5 a.m., a place where people come in to get their coffee, their morning’s fare and go about their day. The tragedy on that otherwise normal day was a sudden inexplicable brutal shooting of customers by a man with a hand gun.

Governor Hutchinson commutes the sentence of a convicted murderer from Fulton County

Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson has announced he is commuting the sentences of several convicted felons, including a convicted murderer from Fulton County. The governor’s announcement Wednesday, May 4 included Bryan E. Dickinson who was convicted of first degree murder in Fulton County in 2000. He was sentenced to 480 months in the state prison system and was housed at the Brickeys Unit in eastern Arkansas.

Area arrest reports

Oregon County Sheriff Asa Bartee Garrison III, of Thayer, was arrested April 27 on an Oregon County warrant for possession of controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid. He was released on 05/01/2022 on a medical furlough.

Several faculty and staff

Several faculty and staff at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) celebrated Arbor Day April 29 by planting a magnolia tree on the north side of the Lybyer Technology Center. Physical Plant Supervisor Ron Hensley discussed the history and significance of Arbor Day and the importance of trees to the environment. Those attending also were given a silver maple seedling to plant at home. Spring Junior Livestock Show entry deadline

Fulton County Fair officials remind exhibitors that entries for the Spring Junior Livestock Show scheduled for May 21 should be pre-registered by May 15. The online entry program will shut down at midnight on this date and exhibitors will not be able to enter online. Go to http://fultonsjls. fairwire.com for a list of classes and make online entries. All entry fees should be paid online with a credit or debit card.
