Commentary: The 119th Congress is Here; The To-Do List is Long

On January 20, a new administration took over in Washington, D.C., as Donald J. Trump assumed the role of President for the second time. Just two weeks prior, Congress filled its seats with members elected in November. That means the business of government is at full strength to work for the American people. One of the biggest issues the White House and Congress will tackle centers around everyone’s favorite topic: the tax code.

Vision for Missouri’s Future: Strengthening Integrity and Service

It is with great humility and excitement that I step into the role of Missouri’s 41st secretary of state. My journey from the legislature to this office has given me a deep appreciation for the responsibilities entrusted to us by the people of Missouri. I had the honor of speaking before the Missouri Press Association in our state capitol this week. Now, with just over a week on the job, I want to share some reflections and goals as we embark on this journey together.

Circuit Thoughts: Normal Time

Today is a historic day. As I write to you it is January 20, 2025. This is inauguration day. A different person sits in the White House, and we essentially have a new government for the next four years. I have heard cheers and jeers about the president. Some of you are worried, and some are not. I have also listened to predictions of how the future will play out. Some predictions are positive and others negative. I truly don’t know what the future is for this country or this world, and I don’t really want to know, and I will tell you why.
