The Manes R5 and Gainesville R5 school districts have been awarded grant funds for field trips for students. Manes students plan to visit Ha Ha Tonka State Park and Bennett Spring, and Gaineville students will visit Mammoth Spring. Students from both districts will be touring Fantastic Caverns.
Winter brings planning; spring brings planting, and summer, as is the case this year, brings prayers for rain. With Independence Day upon us, we also offer up prayers of thanks. The past few summers, it seems like there has been a nonstop weight on the minds of farmers and ranchers. In 2020 and 2021, we stared down a global pandemic and all of the uncertainty that came with it. Last year, the conflict in Ukraine sent input costs through the roof, causing everyone, especially those in the fields, to sharpen their pencils and adjust their bottom lines.
Independence Day is a cherished holiday where we get together with friends and family, fire up the grill, and sit back to watch fireworks. But it’s also a time to reflect on what it means to live in the freest nation in the world, with a government of, by, and for the people. While much has changed in the 247 years that have passed since our nation was founded, the fight to protect our liberties and freedoms continues to this day.
For years, Hunter Biden has made headline after headline for everything from his reckless behavior to his involvement in shady business dealings. And at every step of the way, Americans have demanded their leaders look into the many examples of where it seems Hunter Biden has gotten away with committing crimes that would send the average American to jail. On June 22, the Ways and Means Committee, which I’m the chairman of, released a bombshell report that included 14 hours’ worth of jaw-dropping testimony from Internal Revenue Service (IRS) employees who contacted my office to share their serious concerns regarding the federal government’s handling of an investigation into Hunter Biden’s business dealings.
At Missouri Farm Bureau, we’ve talked extensively for more than two years about the global climate agenda and how activists continue to miss the big picture. Every United Nations, European Union, and Biden Administration meeting seems to focus on the “climate crisis” and ways to save the human race. Now, it seems we’ve entered a new phase of the global climate agenda – animal sacrifice, and Europe is leading the way.
Over the last several years Americans have watched the Left do everything they could to take down President Donald Trump. There was the Russia-Trump collusion conspiracy theory, where Washington Democrats teamed up with the liberal media to go after Trump. We saw a liberal New York City District Attorney manufacture a case against the former president – a case so questionable that any reasonable prosecutor would have long since walked away from it. But what’s most alarming of all is that the Left is turning the government into a weapon to target their political opponents.
It is more difficult than ever to shield young children from material and images that would’ve been put behind the counter at the Kum & Go just a few years ago. Our kids are deluged with inappropriate content on television, on the internet, in social media, and throughout our culture.
