How often do we hear about racial differences as if there are several factions, various races of humans? Current books, TV personalities and news reporters continue to speak and write of we humans as belonging to several “races”. Can we get away from this antiquated idea? It originating from the eugenics scheme of 1930’s and 1940’s.
Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft opened the House of Representatives of the 102nd Regular Session of the Missouri General Assembly today by thanking legislators for their efforts and outlining legislative priorities. Ashcroft called for expanding parental choice in education, reforming the criminal justice system and creating transparency in government.
Polydrug use is nothing new to the world of drugs. Some addicts use different drugs at once whether intentional or unintentional. With polydrug use there are four different combinations: mixing stimulants with stimulants, mixing stimulants and depressants, mixing more than one depressant, and mixing cocaine and alcohol. There are already risks when using drugs and mixing causes these risks to become more severe.
Missouri State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick today highlighted accomplishments from his four years as State Treasurer. “As Treasurer, I have worked to protect Missouri’s tax dollars, help Missourians save for the future, and increase government transparency at the state and local level,” Treasurer Fitzpatrick said.

The fall of 2023 will be the 50th anniversary of the legislative birth of Missouri’s Sunshine Law that provides the public with sweeping rights to documents, voting records and meetings of state and local governments. The Sunshine Law’s foundation has a long history.
The holiday season can be very stressful; whether it is trying to find the perfect gifts, family drama, or financial stress, there is a good chance everyone will at least have one moment of stress during the holidays. Unfortunately, this stress also affects those struggling with drugs and alcohol.
Synthetic opioids like fentanyl claim more than 150 lives every day in the United States, according to the CDC. And the DEA reports that a recent study of fake prescription drugs revealed that 6 out of 10 pills analyzed contained potentially lethal amounts of fentanyl.
As I write this, we are still a few days out from Christmas, but I am told people like reading this column, so I am doing another one for the post-Christmas/Yule festivities and get to talk about 2023.
