Every November, millions of Americans fulfill an over 200-year-old civic duty: casting a ballot on Election Day. Like many of you, I’ll never forget the first time I walked into the voting booth as a young 18-year-old high school student. The fact that many of us remember the first time we voted just goes to show how serious Americans take this right and responsibility.
The nastiness of election season is over. I have been a part of some heated election cycles in my almost eight years as a journalist and this year’s wasn’t any different than what I had experienced in the past. I guess you could say it made it to my top 5.

Under one-party Democrat rule of Congress and the White House, the Left has made significant gains in achieving their goal of gaining control over every aspect of Americans’ lives – whether it’s transforming the U.S. health care system into a socialiststyle model, colluding with Big Tech to silence free speech, or using classrooms to indoctrinate students with their woke agenda.

There is one thing I thought I was going to be able to avoid in moving to Arkansas and being part of a community newspaper, two actually. Something that consistently reared its ugly head time and time again back in my former stomping grounds was a phrase that I understood but cringe at because it is annoying for those of us in the newsrooms. A phrase I wasn’t expecting to hear again being in a smaller community that was starved for local news but I shouldn’t have been surprised to hear once again.
Nothing to see here. That’s the message Washington Democrats are trying to sell the American people when it comes to the situation on the border. But as Americans know full-well, the border is anything but secure. And they know exactly what created the chaos: one-party Democrat rule of Congress and the White House. Whether it’s refusing to build the wall or getting rid of President Donald Trump’s effective border policies, every action by the Left has only inflamed the crisis. As a result, our border is a major national security, humanitarian, and public safety issue.
Special Session Wraps up With Historic Tax Relief and Support for Missouri Farmers The members of the Missouri House and Senate completed their work this week in a special session called by Gov. Mike Parson. Several weeks of work in Jefferson City produced both a bill to support the state’s farmers and legislation to enact historic tax relief for Missouri taxpayers. The day after the legislature finished its work, Gov. Parson signed both bills into law.
