Letter to the Editor:

Alcohol is widely accepted and can be found at many gatherings, events, and outings with friends. Alcoholics will find any and every excuse to drink, whether it’s a celebrating or having a bad day. During the summer many spend time drinking by the pool or drinking on vacation at the beach.

Fighting for Missourians’ Second Amendment Rights

It has become an unfortunate theme in Washington - every time a crisis or tragedy hits this nation, Washington Democrats spring into action to exploit that situation to grow the power of government. In response to the current economic crisis of their own making, Democrats choose higher taxes; in response to the energy crisis, they choose new, less reliable energy sources over affordable energy coupled with new limits and regulations on oil and gas; in response to a border crisis, they choose open borders and government incentives for illegal immigration. Every solution they propose will only inflame the crises we face, but every solution also has one thing in common: they are liberal wish list items that have existed for decades.

Treasurer Fitzpatrick calls for passage of Federal Savings Bond Legislation

In a letter to Senators Roy Blunt and Josh Hawley, Missouri State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick urged the United States Senate to pass the Unclaimed Savings Bond Act of 2021. The legislation would empower states to act on behalf of the Treasury Department to find owners of matured, unredeemed U.S. savings bonds and facilitate the payment of their claims. Nearly $30 billion in savings bonds have reached final maturity, of which approximately $438 million belongs to Missourians.

Saw at the Border

Over the last 16 months, we have seen a steady deterioration in our border security as President Joe Biden’s disastrous policies have not only weakened our ability to stop illegal immigration but actually poured fuel on an already raging fire by encouraging millions of illegal immigrants to cross our border.

The Formula for a Crisis

Across America parents of newborns are scrambling because infant formula has to be rationed – if it’s available at all. It’s unthinkable to me that this could be happening in present-day America, and yet here we are. But would you believe me if I told you that this latest crisis was completely avoidable?

Capitol Week in Review

Fellow Missourians, As the 2022 Legislative session is coming to an end, it has definitely been an interesting and disappointing session. When I decided to retire and file to represent the citizens of this state, I never imagined the dis-function of our government. Egos, personal agendas, outside influences and political aspirations have shown me the blatant disregard for the concerns of the citizens of this state. It is sad when one legislator’s personal agenda can undermine the basic needs of communities throughout this state. It is hard to sit in the chamber and watch a good bill get hijacked by numerous amendments. On several bills in the last few weeks, multiple amendments were added to bill after bill. According to the Missouri Constitution, bills are required to be single subject bills. For the past two years, I continually hear how disappointed people are with our law makers about adding so many things to one bill. I am dedicated to work to uphold our constitution. That said, I am more experienced and determined to stand up for you and our community, even with the overwhelming odds. We all need to do our part and stay informed and get involved in some manner. Your voice does make a difference!

Honoring America’s Heroes

Throughout its history, the United States has been blessed with men and women who have been willing to make incredible sacrifices in defense of the American dream. This land of the free has been so only because of the gallant efforts of those brave souls who call it home. This Memorial Day, the people of this nation will pause to pay tribute to those who have given all so that the freedoms of the American people can be preserved. So many of the selfless soldiers who left their loved ones behind to fight for the cause of good never came home. For them, there was no return to their families and no ticker-tape parades celebrating their heroism. Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the heroes who willingly paid the price that was necessary to protect what is undeniably the greatest nation in the world.
