Grizzly Softball team adds five more players

Don Long, head coach of the Grizzly Softball team at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP), has announced the signing of five more players to the 2022-2023 roster. They include: • Lauren Akin, Crane, second baseman • Lexy Bridges, Diamond, first baseman • Mackenzie Massey, Granby, shortstop • Tessa Feeback, Fordland, utility player • Brooklyn Atterberry, Plato, catcher “We’re excited to add these talented players to our first roster,” Long said.

Grizzlies add guard; four players decide to return

Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Basketball Head Coach Jared Phay today announced the signing of a guard and the return of three players for the upcoming season. Nate Houston, Toledo, Ohio, has signed a national letter of intent to join the team, and Grizzlies Sterling White, Dallas Clayton and Merrick Small have informed Phay they will continue playing for the team.

Gunnels signs with BRTC

Zachary Gunnels, a senior at Mammoth Spring High School, signed a letter of intent, committing to attend Black River Technical College in the Fall of 2022. Zachary plans to seek a degree in Nursing. The 2022 Signing Day took place on Saturday, May 7 in the Lobby of the Administration Building on the Pocahontas campus. Zachary was accompanied by his parent, Nicole Buls. BRTC would like to recognize and celebrate Zachary’s decision to attend college and congratulate him on his high school graduation.

Eight sign with Grizzly eSports program

Alex Pinnon, head coach of the Grizzly eSports program at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP), today announced the signing of eight players to the team. They include: • Jasmine Williams, West Plains, who will play on the Overwatch roster as a support • Kale Willison, West Plains, who will play on the Overwatch roster as a support and on the Call of Duty roster • McKenzie Mattison, West Plains, who will play on the Overwatch roster as a DPS (damage per second) player • Kassidy Scott, West Plains, who will play on the Overwatch roster as a Tank • Jackson Williams, Cabool, who will play on the Overwatch roster as a Tank • Jessica Bates, West Plains, who will play on the Hearthstone roster • Brock DeWeese, West Plains, who will play on the Call of Duty rosters • Josh Burgess, West Plains, who will play on the Call of Duty rosters Pinnon says his players bring some very competitive experience to the team.

United Bass Anglers hold event at Norfork Lake

United Bass Anglers would like to thank everyone that came out and fished Saturday, May 7 at Norfork! Congratulations to the top eight, who all got a check. Tim Hurtt and Larry Hurrt took home first place with four fish weighing 13.02 lbs. They also brought in the biggest bass of the day at 4.13. Second place went to Jackson Walker/Andy Lancaster – 12.56, third to Chad Bleeker/ Doug Overstreet – 11.31, fourth Jason Molhke/ Jody Laxton – 10.54, fifth Clayton Welch/Jake Laxton – 10.47, sixth Kelly Hancock/Kevin Amerson – 8.88, seventh place was Lynn Luther/George Campbell – 8.14 and eighth place was Delray Kaut/Jared Kaut – 7.55.

Fraley signs with BRTC

Michael Fraley, a senior at Couch High School, signed a letter of intent, committing to attend Black River Technical College in the Fall of 2022. Michael plans to seek a degree in Auto Collision Repair. The 2022 Signing Day took place on Saturday, May 7 in the Lobby of the Administration Building on the Pocahontas campus. Michael was accompanied by his parents, Carl and Dianna Fraley. BRTC would like to recognize and celebrate Michael’s decision to attend college and congratulate him on his high school graduation.
