Loyd Port “Pete” Harber, 94, of Viola, Ark. passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Viola, Ark. Pete was born Nov. 27, 1928, in Vidette, Ark. to Porter Harber and Stella (Brown) Harber.
Pete married Lois Faye Wray and to this union two children were born. Pete worked as a foundry worker, dairy farmer, and a bulldozer operator. Pete enjoyed farming and making hay. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, uncle, friend, and was of the Baptist faith.
Pete leaves to mourn his passing, son, Dennis Harber (Kay) of Viola, Ark.; stepdaughter, Becky Adkissin (Ronnie) of Panama City Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Steven Harber (Sarah), Jason Harber, Kayla Harber, Lance Harber (Adlena), Darla Johnston (Doug), Darrick Brown (Leesa), Denise Clifton Jones, and Dawn Brown; two step grandsons: Trevor Hatfield and Spencer Adkissin; fourteen great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife (Lois Harber), daughter and son in law (Donna and Dennis Brown), parents (Porter and Stella Harber), and two brothers (Shelby and Clyde Harber).
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Ark. with Bro. Jim Greenslade officiating. Visitation was 1-2 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Barker Funeral Home. The interment was in the Pickren Hall Cemetery in Viola, Ark. The pallbearers will be Rick Harber, Steven Harber, Jason Harber, Lance Harber, Charlie Wray, and Roy Chapin. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Campbell, Max Ray Shrable, Bill Long, JW Guffey, Ewell Worsham, and Chris Bridges. Memorials may be made to the Pickren Hall Cemetery Association.
