Mary Elizabeth “Sue” Ross

Mary Elizabeth “Sue” Ross, 92, of Ash Flat, Ark., passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, at EagleCrest Nursing and Rehab Center in Ash Flat. She was born Sept. 1, 1930, in Sardis, Tenn. to James W. and Dovie Finley Hanna. She married Lydle Hastings “Pat” Ross and they had two daughters, Linda Mechelle and Kay. Sue became an accomplished beautician and loved her family and her city of Ash Flat.

She was a member of the Church of Christ and served her community on the Ash Flat City Council and Planning Commission, the Sharp County Fair Board, the DAV Auxiliary and in the Extension Homemakers Club. She was an avid artist with a passion for her paintings and music (organist, pianist and church soloist). In addition to her family, Sue’s pride and joy were her yard and flower beds. Those were known in town and beyond for their natural beauty and she so enjoyed working outside.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a sister, Bobby Joy Kirkpatrick; a bother Gary Mike Hanna and a grandson, Charlie Hall.

(Paul) of Ash Flat and Kay Ross of Searcy, Ark.; a granddaughter, Cindy L. Willis and four grandchildren, Bailey and Brayden Willis and Zander and Emmalie Hall, all of Jonesboro, Ark.; a brother, Gene Hanna of Milledgeville, Tenn; two sisters, Jo Ann Patterson of Chattanooga and Wanda Bethune of Milledgeville; many other relatives and a multitude of good friends.

Visitation of family and friends was from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 11, in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland, Ark. The funeral service was Monday, June 12 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Bob Evins officiating. Burial followed in Oaklawn Cemetery at Highland.

Pallbearers were Rob Simers, Mike Nix, Brayden Willis, Marty Goodwin, Theron Isaacs and Richard Huff.

Honorary pallbearers included Zander Hall, David and Brian Kirkpatrick, Ash Flat Fire Department, Joe Bill Fowler and Paul Hall.

Arrangements were with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland. Sympathy notes may be entered in the guest book on the website.
