Officials with Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) announced Brian Mitchell as the new director of facility operations. Mitchell, a West Plains native, joins MSU-WP after a 34-year career with the City of West Plains, retiring in July as director of transportation. Mitchell served on the Heart of the Ozarks Fair Board from 2002 to 2022 and has been a member of the West Plains R-7 School Board for more than 13 years. He and his wife, Heather, have been married 32 years and have two sons, Brandon and Weston. In his new role, Mitchell will oversee the management, maintenance and long-term planning of campus facilities, ensuring all buildings, utilities and equipment are safe and aligned with institutional goals.
