The Donna S. and Michael D. Hayes Scholarship has been established at Missouri State University with a $500,000 gift from the estate of Michael D. Hayes. The funds will be used for scholarships for graduates of Richards R-5 School who pursue certificate or undergraduate degree programs at the university’s campuses in West Plains and Springfield. The scholarship honors Donna, who was a graduate of Richards and taught at the school for 37 years, and Michael, who supported Donna in her profession and the school she loved.
